Sea Hurricane Mk. 1B (Airfix)46 viewsAlthough the new Airfix kit is marketed as a standard Battle of Britain model all the parts for the Sea Hurricane are included. So, I decided “why not?” The big sky “K” is a stencil I made and the Royal Navy serial number were made on my computer. Other decals are from the kit. The paints, Extra Dark Sea Gray and Slate Gray, are Polly Scale I’ve hung onto for years.

Markings are based on information in Scale Aircraft Modeling Color’s “Combat Colors Number 2” which cover the Hurricanes from 1939 to 1945.

Ersatz M-10 (Tamiya 1/35 Panther G kit with Czech Masters Conversion Set)46 viewsThis is one of ten Panther G’s that were modified to look like American M-10 tank destroyers as part of Operation “Greif”, which was a German false flag operation designed to take the Meuse river bridges during the Battle of the Bulge in late 1944.

The base model is the 1/35 Tamiya Panther G kit, but it has a metal barrel, a resin M-10 conversion set from Czech Masters, single link plastic tracks from Model Kasten and some PE grills from Eduard. All of this came out of the collection of Patrick Rourke who, sadly, passed earlier this year. I added the second crewman from another Tamiya kit. Also added some Bachmann trees to the scene.
